President will visit
Neg. Occ. -- Pinky
BY CARLA GOMEZ

A visit by President Benigno Aquino to Negros Occidental to meet with the business community is in the works, his sister, Pinky Aquino-Abellada, said yesterday.

Abellada, who was in Negros for the turnover of preschool buildings from her Aklat Gabay at Aruga Tungo sa Pag-Angat at Pag-asa Foundation, said the visit of the president is being readied but she does not know yet when it will be.

She said the president was not really scheduled to come to Bacolod for the football match between the Philippine Azkals and the Mongolian national team on Wednesday.

Her sister, Ballsy Cruz, was also not scheduled to attend the game as reported by some media outlets, Abellada added.

Meanwhile, Abellada, in response to statements made by Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri, said President Aquino works hard for the country but perhaps not everybody knows that because not everything he does is publicized.

Zubiri, who was in Bacolod Thursday, said on a scale of 10, he would  give the president a seven for performance.

But the president could do more with his fantastic mandate from the people and high trust rating, he added.

“I hope he works harder, and becomes more hands-on, because the country has so many problems,” Zubiri added

As far as she knows, her brother was in Jolo yesterday attending to the needs of the people there, Abellada said.

“They don’t publicize all of his movements, maybe that’s the mistake, you don’t show what the guy is doing that’s why they think like that. Everybody is entitled to their opinion, pero sana they see his day-to-day work. Today he will be in Jolo to help in the relief distribution,” she said.

The president works hard, she said, pointing out that their family has not been able to maintain their Sunday lunches because it’s hard to get everybody together.

“So sometimes it’s sometime in the week, or Sunday dinner instead, just to get everybody together,” she said.*CPG
