Cops arrest laundry woman
BY ADRIAN NEMES III

A laundrywoman wanted for frustrated murder was apprehended by Station 10 policemen when she visited her husband at the Brgy. Handumanan jail in Bacolod City at about 5 p.m. Thursday.

The arrested suspect was identified by Bacolod City Police Officer in charge Senior Supt. Ricardo de la Paz as Marilou Valliao, 44, of Purok Golden Rosary in Brgy. Handumanan.

Valliao was apprehended by Station 10 policemen led by Insp. Carmelo Nermal on the strength of an arrest warrant issued by Regional Trial Court Branch 53 Judge Pepito Gellada, who set her bail at P24,000.

Valliao’s husband, Charlie, 47, had been arrested earlier and is now detained at the Bacolod City Bureau of Jail Management and Penology in Brgy. Handumanan on the complaints of their neighbor, Aaron Young.

Initial investigation showed that Valliao allegedly struck Young with a hammer, while her husband hacked the victim during a scuffle at the couple’s residence on September 24, 2010.

Marilou Valliao denied the accusations, claiming that Young attacked her husband inside their house while he was fixing their table, because she was a star witness in the case of Young against their other neighbor.

She is now detained at Police Station 10 and will be transferred to the Handumanan correctional jail if she fails to post bail.*APN
