Homesite kids join soccer camp

Children from ages 12 years old and under joined a three-day soccer camp initiated by the Laforteza family at the Homesite Gym in Bacolod City.

Joining the camp were 21 boys and 11 girls from Montevista Elementary School and Jack & Jill – Homesite, who were taught the fundamentals of soccer by Edgar Laforteza, a police officer in Chicago who is originally from Homesite, and his team of family members and volunteers.

Assisting Edgar were Conrad, Mayalin, and Miko Laforteza, all young athletes based in Chicago.

The activity was supported by the barangay officials of homesite with Kagawad Joel Bonifacio and Montevista Elementary school teacher Rodney Jarder as coaches during the camp.

The organizers said they held the soccer camp to support their belief that sports could bring positive change to the lives of the local kids such as providing a healthy outlet from vices, promoting an active lifestyle and  wellness and paving the way for scholarships via sports for future athletes.*NAB
