Maja and Coco at
888 Chinatown

The 888 Chinatown Square celebrated its third anniversary recently with four days of fun-filled activities.

On the first day was the Battle of the Bands where almost all of Bacolod’s best bands entertained the crowd, such as the James Band and Fifth Band, to mention a few. The winner and champion was the Seeds Band.

The next day, a motorcade featuring movie personalities Coco Martin and Maja Salvador was delayed because of the rain. It was still drizzling when the two toured Bacolod and both said they did not mind getting wet.

Both insisted on waving to the crowd through the roof of the Alphard and greeted everybody. They pair in the top-rated telenovela of ABS-CBN.

Then they had lunch with the sponsors and the board of directors of 888 Chinatown Square at L’Sea, as both stars were staying at the L’Fisher Chalet. After a long time of picture taking and handshaking with the crowd, it was time to call the production staff for crowd control, so they could rest for their evening appearance.

At 6 p.m., celebrity night was held and popular performers from Bacolod, like Annie Marie Seva’s Dance Studio, the Rave Fare dancers, the two lovely and funny entertainers from Black Velvet, and Pepsi Cola provided games for the crowd. The USLS Artians Cheer dancers also performed. The highlight was the arrival of Maja and Coco, stars of the telenovela “Minsan Lang Kita Iibigan,” and the show lasted up to midnight.

The Bida Best Barangay Kapamilya and the launching of ABS-CBN talent search province circle were also held, and, on the last day, the grand variety show.

Performers of the dance studio, Ching Alcala Dance group, and Bing Sendico’s, and many more entertained the crowd and the most awaited moment was the 15-minute fireworks countdown headed by the Aire Band.

Remember: Trials… They’re like a washing machine. Twist us, spin us and knock us around. But in the end, we come out cleaner, brighter and better than before. Have faith in God.*
