MassKara Streetdance
orientation calendared

The Silver MassKara Festival Organization, organizer of the 2011 MassKara Festival, will conduct an orientation for the street and arena dance competition and the Electric MassKara performing float competition at the MassKara Hall 3 and 4 of the Bacolod City Government Center today, a press release from the group said.

Rudy Reveche, streetdance committee chairman, said guidelines for the competition as well as the innovations to be implemented in this year’s contests will be discussed.

Representatives of the 61 barangays in Bacolod are requested to attend the orientation, which will start at 2:30 p.m., after the registration at 2 p.m. The press release added.*

Film advanced
screening set

An advanced screening of “Zombadings 1: Patayin sa Shokot si Remington” will be held  at Cinema 2 Robinsons Movie World, 7 p.m. August 19,  a press release from promoters said.

The story revolves around a guy who started to show signs of being gay after receiving nightly visits from an unsolicited visitor.  The movie is directed by Jade Castro and stars Roderick Paulate, Eugene Domingo, Janice de Belen, John Regala, Kerbie Zamora, LaurenYoung and Martin Escudero.

‘Busog Lusog Talino’
schools get donations

Height charts and melawares were turned over by Jollibee Bacolod stores composed of franchised and company-owned branches to the Institute for Negros Development, for the use of the participating schools of the Busog Lusog Talino program at the Jollibee La Salle branch, a press release from the University of St. La Salle in Bacolod City said.

The donations came when the fast food company representatives heard the concern of partner schools during the last BLT summit about their need of height charts and additional plates.

Gesila Cortez of Jollibee Bacolod said, “Not all kids in Negros are lucky enough to be on our stores so we are reaching out for those who cannot afford.  We are giving them with height charts in support to the BLT program for the kids in public schools,” the press release said.

Since 2009, Jollibee Foundation and IND have been spearheading the in school feeding program to undernourished grades 1 and 2 pupils in Negros Occidental, the press release added.*

IN SAN CARLOS
Kasangga turns over
building to hospital

Ang Kasangga Partylist, through former Mayor Eugenio “Bong” Lacson, recently turned over a new two-storey building to the San Carlos City Hospital.

The group donated P1 million for the construction of the building supervised by Assistant District Engineer Jaime Javellana of the Department of Public Works and Highways, a San Carlos City press release said.

The keynote speaker, on behalf of Ang Kasangga Partylist Rep. Teodorico Haresco at the blessing and turnover rites, was Lacson who said Kasangga is happy to have contributed to the development of the hospital.

The second floor of the multi purpose building serves as storage room, while the first floor is used as a holding area for the out-patient department and in-patient watchers or care takers as well as the hospital cooperative canteen, Lacson said.

During the affair, City Vice Mayor Dr. Edgardo Quisumbing also turned over the new X-Ray machine bought by city government of San Carlos, the press release said.*
