DLNHS softbelles suffer setback
in 2011 Little League Phil series

While the Juniors of the Domingo Lacson National High School softball team cruised to its fourth win at the expense of Caloocan, the Seniors squad suffered a setback in the hands of Cavite, 4-5, in the 2011 Little League Philippine Series held in Lipa City yesterday.

After registering two straight wins, the DLNHS Seniors failed to outplay the Cavite girls who displayed an outstanding performance in the game yesterday.

While it was the first loss of DLNHS in the tournament and it remains as one of the favorites to win the championship after beating powerhouse ILLAM, 11-7, and Antipolo, 7-2, a sweep by Cavite of its remaining games will put the team on the top spot and overturn the expectations of the team from Bacolod.

The champion in the tournament will represent the country in the Asia-Pacific Softball Championship set in Bacolod City on June 20-25.

Still, DLNHS Juniors team mentor Romeo Palma expressed optimism that the team will win in their category.

Palma’s Juniors team is on a high-morale after plucking its fourth win yesterday with an overwhelming 13-0 conquest of Caloocan batters. The game ended in the third inning.

Leading the DLNHS Juniors with a homerun in each inning were Celestine Palma, Florabel Pabiana, Gea Dechosa, Hanna dela Torre, Jamaica Arribas and Lyka Basa.

The girls from Bacolod stamped their class early in the tournament by blasing Quezon City, 19-0, and subduing ILLAM All Stars, 11-0. It also beat Cavitea, 17-1 for a clean sweep of its first three assignments.*NAB
