Sibulan women plant trees

Members of the Local Council for Women  in Sibulan town, Negros Oriental,  launched  recently a  program geared at fighting climate change dubbed "Love a Tree the Women Way," a Philippine Information Agency press release said.

The progeam was held to mark the Women’s Month celebration in Sibulan town, the press release said.

Each LCW member was given one fruit tree of rambutan or lanzones and  asked to plant it  in her backyard. They were also told that planting a tree is like caring for a child and adult, and   women are experts at  it and will care for them in similar manner, the press release said.

The council members planted the trees during the Women’s Month celebration at the vicinity of Lake Balinsasayao through the help of the Protected Area Management Board  personnel, the press release added.*
