Three fugitive policemen have been denied bail for qualified theft charges, have sent feelers to surrender, after having secured legal advice and counsel to defend themselves, Senior Inspector Gabriel Gutierrez, Sagay police chief, said yesterday.
The respondents in the qualified theft charges are SPO4 Jose Gargar, SPO2 Aladino Docil and PO3 Dante Honrado, all members of the Negros Occidental Police Public Safety Management Company.
Gutierrez who along with Supt. Norberto Boston, NOPPSMC director, who have been ordered to serve the arrest warrant to the three police officers by Region 6 police director Chief Supt. Samuel Pagdilao, said he will immediately turnover the three to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, as they are expected to surrender today.
The arrest of Gargar, Docil and Honrado stemmed from the complaint of businessman Alfredo Villacastin about scrap iron worth P65,000 he owned that was confiscated by the suspects last year and are now missing.
Meanwhile, Police Officer 3 Danilo Leonoras and Police Officer 1 Dionesio Mondejar are also being investigated for allegedly poking a gun at a civilian in Cadiz City,and for going AWOL (absent-without-leave) in Pulupandan.
Senior Inspector Edencio Gregorio also reported yesterday the apprehension of Elmer Dapitan in Brgy. Punta Mesa, Manapla, by virtue of an arrest warrant for the crime of robbery.
Gregorio, Manapla police chief, said Silay Judge Felipe Banzon has recommended P100,000 as bail for Dapitan, who is now in jail. *GPB
