Iloilo falls in Bacolod
A murder suspect tagged as the second most-wanted of Iloilo City was arrested by joint operatives of the Regional Intelligence Unit of Police Regional office 6, Bacolod City Intelligence and Investigation Branch and of Police Station 2, at Robinson’s mall Bacolod at about 4 p.m. yesterday.
Arrested was Ian Parreño, 26 of Brgy. Bakhaw in Manduriao District, Iloilo City and now a resident of Purok Tilapia, Brgy. 3, who is now detained at Police Station 2.
The arrest was made by Police Officers 3 Anthony Marijana and Rodney Ruiz and was supervised by Supt. Ronald Gepana of RIU and Station 2 chief Insp. Jeffrey Attunaga.
Marijana said they arrested Parreño on the strength of an arrest warrant issued by Iloilo City 6th Judicial Region of Manduriao Judge Rene Mortillo, who denied his bail.
Marijana disclosed that Parreño and his father, Cesar Parreño, alias “Kabayo” have been tagged in the killing of an alleged Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency asset in Iloilo City last year.
The elder Parreño had already been arrested by RIU operatives late last year, police records showed.
Ian Parreño, who now works as a helper in a cock farm in Bacolod, denied involvement in the killing of the alleged PDEA asset and said that it was his father who did it.
Meanwhile, investigators of Police Station 7 are still clueless as to the identities of the suspects in the brutal killing of call center agent John Silvano, 24, of Hervias 2, Brgy. Villamonte, Bacolod, whose body was found in a creek at Brgy. Vista Alegre, this city.
Station 7 police chief, Insp. Emmanuel Misajon admitted that they do not have any lead or witnesses yet, who could shed light on the case.
Misajon said they will request to the call center where Silvano worked to allow them to inquire from his officemates if they have any idea where the victim had gone before his body was fished out from the creek with at least 20 stab wounds.*APN
