Easter is a time of love,

A time of death and pain undone,

So we may know the power of

The love that lives in everyone.

Each love we feel, unstained and free,

Redeems us – as with you and me.

If the events that happened two centuries ago that led to our celebration of the Holy Week took place today, they would undoubtedly be headline materials or top stories in television news. The Good News, they call it, unlike so many stories that grab the headlines today. We share with you the anonymously-written verses above and below as part of our way of our introspection during this week’s celebration.

Our issue also carries two other Lent and Easter-related messages, one we got online, from Vatican, and the other from local minister, Joebert Ramos, who shares the thoughts of young people on what Jesus Christ’s resurrection means to them.

A business consultant writes a moving tribute to the late Gov. Joseph Marañon in our first-person section.

We look back at the few days just past in our back-page feature on the Sinigayan Festival in northern Negros and how the celebration has been focused on the need for more cooperative efforts, faith in our capacity to excel and discipline as a way of life if we want our communities to grow and progress.

And writing of looking at ourselves, a group of Japanese students gave us that opportunity when they performed in Negros not their own dances and songs but ours.

They are Tokyo University students who have been going out of their comfort zones to extend the hand and bond of friendship to Filipinos by studying our own culture and traditions.

In our Christian ‘tradition’ or way of life, we are happy to experience once more the joyful occasion and the good news of our God being risen from the dead to complete our way toward eternal salvation because, through his blood, He redeemed us.

“Even though Christ gave His life,

An ugliness still stalks the Earth;

So we must cherish His rebirth

Through beauty between man wife.

Each soul must replicate the dove;

Redemption feels like our love.
