The annual show – the 12th Sinigayan Festival – which ended Wednesday, went on despite a subdued mood following the death of its former mayor and incumbent governor, Joseph Marañon.

The city showcased its products and colors in its agro fair  as well as its cultural pride through the art exhibits as well as the food festival, its opening rites graced by Agriculture Sec. Arthur Yap.

Various cultural and sports events as well as seminars and lectures were conducted in keeping with the festival theme: ‘Uswag Paagi sa Pagtinguha, Pagsalig kag Disiplina’.

The training programs covered livestock, poultry and crop production techniques with supplemental information represented by more than two dozen organizations posting their educational exhibits.

Sports events included basketball, lawn tennis, trisikad, airsoft gun shooting, 4x4 off-road, motocross and boxing competitions.

The visual exhibit featured the works of local artists.

For the Sagaynons, as organizers said, they are challenged to  pursue what the city leaders have started toward a more progressive community. Anchored on honest and hard work, faith in themselves and a self-imposed discipline, together we can do it well, they said.
