In
its effort to recognize, commend, and encourage the intangible contributions made
by teachers to the strengthening of moral values in society, the Saceda Youth
Lead honors outstanding teachers in Dumaguete City .
Held
yesterday at the organization's training center, it conferred the distinction
on teachers who have significantly helped in empowering elementary, high school,
and college students, and even professionals, to become most effective citizens.
It honored teachers who are also role models, who inspire, and make a difference
in the lives of their students within and beyond the classroom.
The
categories are Award of Excellence in the field of Teacher Development and Award
of Excellence in the field of Student Development.
The
awardees must have contributed significantly in their students' lives. Their achievements
should enhance the prestige of the nation and also serve as an inspiration to
other young people.
They
must also be actively involved in student development programs like leadership
trainings, guidance and counseling, community development, workshops, dialogue
sessions with the organization, and its partner institutions that will help motivate
their students' early direction in life.
The
awards are exclusive to all client schools of Saceda Youth Lead.
The
following were given plaques of recognition for the Award of Excellence in the
Field of Student Development: Letecia Tead, Paniabonan National High School; Audrey
Claire Tuballa, Silliman University; Henrick Blanco, La Libertad National High
School; Jiji Taladua, Jimalalud National High School; Dr. Ermita Miranda, San
Miguel High School; Luz Buñol, Negros Oriental High School; Ma. Irmina
Vintola, St. Louis School Don Bosco;
Maricor
Mena, Tanjay Science High School ; John Jimenez, Siquijor State College; Dr. Ma.
Sarah Fatima Valencia, Negros Oriental State University Bais Campus; Dr. Caridad
Maadil, St. Paul University; Elisa Tubog, Diaz College of Tanjay; and, Jesa Selibio,
Silliman University.
The
teachers' encouragement and inspiration enhanced the character development of
their students They have also manifested their humility and audacity in inspiring
the youth through its partnership with the organization for three to five years
of leadership programs, which are usually held in their respective schools.
The
following DepEd teachers were given plaques of recognition for the Award of Excellence
for Teacher Development: Elizabeth Anfone of Canlaon City; Bonifacio Pilas of
Mabinay; Gaudencio Alojado of Pamplona; Dionesio Ramirez of Sta. Catalina South;
Carmelita Alcala of Dauin National High School; Dr. Bertila Eltanal of Valencia;
and, Pablito Tablo of Manjuyod.
These
educators, according to their citations, who are busy with their respective work
at the Department of Education have envisioned the significant role of teachers
as “real heroes of our times.” They extend beyond what is expected of them and
have paved the way for their teachers to be educated in other pressing issues
such as values formation, emergency and preventive medicine, team building, personality
development, and social graces and etiquette.
“With
our partnership for more than three years, we have reached, empowered, and inspired
more than 10,000 teachers in Region 7,” according to Dave Saceda, prime mover
behind Saceda Youth Lead.
In
addition, four school heads and administrators were honored as Outstanding Teachers
and were given plaques of recognition, a medallion, and a free trip to Singapore
. They are: Lucila Besario, principal of Dahile National High School, Mabinay;
Luzvizminda Bulgado, principal of Hilaitan National High School; Dr. Thelma Florendo,
dean of the College of Education, Foundation University; and, Aleli Abne, superintendent,
DepEd Siquijor.
As embodied
in their respective citations, these teachers have shown excellence in their respective
fields as educators and mentors to their students and their co-teachers. They
have exemplified commendable virtues with character developed and enhanced by
significant experience.
The
award recognizes their passion, drive, commitment, and teaching excellence. They
are role models who inspire and make a difference in the lives of many. They have
supported the organization and have been instrumental to the growth of the organization
as one of the Outstanding Youth Organizations in the Philippines and a recognized
member of the World Association of NGOs under the auspices of the United Nations.
Saceda Youth Lead is a
youth serving institution under the auspices of the National Youth Commission.
It is also an affiliate of the World Movement of Youth in Democracy.
