One of the most rewarding shots any
photography buff could produce are photos of the sea, sand and sky.
For
student photographer Aries Cariño, a Mass Communications senior at St.
La Salle, the experience is fascinating with the interplay of water, light and
reflection. One has to wait not just for hope but for the magic hour, the perfect
time, to capture such fascinating scenes, he says.
The young photographer
gets a high when shooting photos of the “sun saying its goodbye, and the moon
beaming its moonlight, creating a dramatic effect in the mood — including loneliness
and the allegory of waiting — in the whole scene”. I'm a big fan of photos of
reflection, silhouettes and shadow shoots, he adds.
He also likes to show
subjects that depict “the holistic being, more than just not parts”, a study more
of the whole than its parts.
On this page are photos by the young camera
enthusiast taken between the last quarter of 2006 and December 2007 in Guimaras,
Bantayan, Sipaway, Calatrava and Cadiz , as well as shots in Hawaii , where he
spent his summer vacation last year.
Photography allows us to immortalize
splendid moments for the eyes and the soul regardless of what equipment one uses.
In my case, I use a simple digital camera but I am awed by the images it can produce,
he emphasizes.
