| Two professors from Silliman University in Dumaguete City presented research papers on the impacts of service-learning, at a workshop held recently at the International Christian University in Tokyo, Japan, a press release from SU said.
Dr. Enrique Oracion, Research and Development director, presented Service-Learning in Multicultural Contexts: Approaches and Experiences in the Philippines and India, and the paper of Prof. Emervencia Ligutom, Service-Learning Center coordinator, was “Service-Learning in Silliman University: Perspectives of Administrators, Faculty and Students.”
Oracion’s work was on a quantitative assessment of the Service-Learning Model Program hosted by Silliman in 2006, and Lady Doak College in India in 2007.
Ligutom’s paper presented a qualitatively examination and comparison of perceptions, expectations and experiences of the various stakeholders under the program as conducted in two different countries, the press release added.*
