Divers find bodies
of 2  fishermen

BY PATRICK PANGILINAN

The remains of two more fishermen who had been missing since typhoon Frank hit Negros Occidental in July, were found by divers off the coast of Olotayan Island near Roxas City, in Capiz, yesterday, the spokesperson of CYC Fish Venture said.

The two bodies that had not yet been identified as of yesterday were found inside the FB Mercury, one of the fishing vessels from Cadiz City that had sunk while seeking shelter from the typhoon, Robert Puey of CYC Fish Venture said in a press briefing yesterday.

Puey said the bodies are expected to arrive at dawn today in Cadiz where they will confirm their identities to avoid a repeat of a previous incident when two families fought over the remains of a fisherman.

Meanwhile, Puey said, they are still waiting for the help promised by the Negros Occidental and Cadiz City governments to defray their expenses since the tragedy struck the area’s fishing industry.

Puey also said they are still processing the requirements for the grants promised by the national government to rehabilitate Cadiz City’s fishing industry.*PP
