Pa kills son
BY PATRICK PANGILINAN

A father is now facing parricide charges after he allegedly slit the neck of his own son with a scythe over long-standing grudges and caused his death in Murcia town, Negros Occidental yesterday.

Arsenio Caballero, 66, surrendered to the Murcia police station after he allegedly cut the neck of his son, Sandy, while the latter was sleeping in their house at Hacienda Roxas, Brgy. Blumentritt, in the town, at about 3 a.m. yesterday.

Sandy, 29, was declared dead on arrival at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital, Chief Insp. Simeon Gane, Murcia police commander, said.

Their investigation showed that the father and son had frequently quarreled over unspecified things in their home and, in fact, police officers had come several times to pacify them, Gane said.

On Sunday night, the older Arsenio and Sandy, who were both intoxicated with liquor then, had another heated argument, Katherine, the victim’s sister, said in a television interview.

She said she was surprised when their father took the farm implement and attacked her brother later.

Gane said they are now preparing parricide charges against Arsenio.*PP
