Bacolod PNP steps up
drive against robbers

Police Station 2 commander, Senior Inspector Luisito Acebuche, said they are intensifying their campaign against robbers in their area, especially those who victimize pedestrians at night.

This, even as three suspected snatchers insisted yesterday that they were wrongfully accused even after they were arrested with the valuables they allegedly stole still in their possession in separate police operations in Bacolod City late Wednesday.

Rene Bandies, 24, of Purok Mahimulaton, Brgy. Banago, Bacolod, was nabbed by PO1’s Reagan Javier, Jimmy Jaro, Timoteo Sanodio, Christian Genovea, and Jeffrey Solas of Police Station 2 at 21st-San Agustin streets, in the city, at about 11 p.m. Wednesday, police records showed.

Bandies was apprehended after he allegedly snatched the Motorola L6i cellphone of Jennifer Pascual, 24, of Victoria Street, Eroreco Subdivision, police reports said.

The suspect, however, claimed that he was being chased by his enemy in the area when he was spotted by the officers and was mistaken to be the one who grabbed Pascual’s phone.

The gadget was recovered from Bandies, police records showed.

Julius Dalumpines, 29, of Brgy. Abuanan, Bago City, Negros Occidental, and Danny Baldevia, 28, of Purok Maabiabihon, Brgy. Sum-ag, in the city, also denied stealing the bag of another woman even after it was recovered from them when they were arrested also at about 11 p.m. Wednesday.

Dalumpines and Baldevia, who were on a red Honda XRM motorcycle, allegedly snatched the bag of Christine Pabalan, 22, of Capiloville Subdivision, in the city, that contained two Nokia cellphones and P5,600 in cash, while the latter was walking at 21st-Lacson streets, in the city, police reports said.

The two, who were collared by Solas and Javier, said that they were looking for a place to drink when they lost their balance and “accidentally” fell on Pabalan.

SPO1 Vicente Canuday Jr. said that they were preparing theft charges against the three yesterday.*PP

Drug charges filed
vs. junkshop helper

Drug charges were filed against junkshop helper Gerardo Concepcion yesterday after he was arrested for alleged possession of a sachet of shabu and a tooter in Bacolod City Tuesday, the police said.

Cases for violation of sections 11 and 12 of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, were lodged against Concepcion at the City Prosecutor’s Office for the sachet of shabu and the tooter with traces of the illegal substance allegedly seized from him, SPO1 Vicente Canuday Jr., of Police Station 2, said.

Police Station 2 members led by Senior Inspector Luisito Acebuche chanced upon Concepcion at 26th-Calamba streets in the city, while they were searching for a robbery suspect there, police investigation showed.

Concepcion, however, denied the accusations and maintained that the items were just “planted” by the cops.

Acebuche said they frisked Concepcion and found the tooter after they saw him throw the sachet as they approached.*PP
