Garden fair slated at mall

The Garden and Home Show of the Negros Horticulture Group will be held at Robinsons Place in Bacolod City starting today until June 9, a press release from organizers said.

It will feature an exquisite display of ornamental plants, fruit trees, herbs, gardening accessories, garden and handicraft magazines, home furnishings and decors, home cooked food, handmade paper products at the fountain area.

Lectures and demo will be held at 4 p.m. on Tropical Floral Arrangement by Adrian Lizares on June 1; Container and Dish Gardening by Hazel Guerrero, Hellivo Hormillosa and Maribel Torre on June 2; Floral Beadworking and Chinese Brush Painting by Pancho Uytiepo on June 3; Terrarium Gardening by Bing Yu; The Wonders of Butterflies by Mios Cooper-Ballesteros on June 5; and Culinary and Medicinal Uses of Herbs by Evelyn Bautista on June 6, the press release said.

Meanwhile, submission of specimen plant entries for the plant contest will be at 10 a.m. June 6 to  noon of June 7 only. Awarding of plant contest winners will be on June 8.

Family day set tomorrow

A family fun day will be held at Shalom Orchard Grove in Concepcion, Talisay City, Negros Occidental, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. tomorrow, a press release from organizers said.

Assembly area will be in front of the Ikthus Worship Center in Mandalagan, Bacolod City, at 7:30 a.m.

Leadership workshop held

The University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos Office of Student Affairs recently conducted a three-day seminar-workshop for Supreme Student Government officers and representatives of various Councils and campus organizations, at UNO-R in Bacolod City, a press release from the school said.

Topics were servant leadership discussed by Faraon Lopez; self and others, Jessie Cadiz; importance of prayer in leadership, Myrna Baynosa; myths about leadership, Fr. Antonio Limchaypo; different leadership skills and principles, Elena Doruelo; Tatak Rekoleto, Fr. Joel Alve; and leadership in today’s society, Fernando Flores.

Student organization president Noami Channel Dimayuga spearheaded the annual planning of activities, and Carlos Legaspi Jr. discussed management and planning, the press release added.*

Passport releasing tomorrow

Negrenses who applied for passports during the recent Pana-ad sa Negros Festival may claim their passports from 8:30 to 12 a.m. tomorrow at the Negros Occidental Multi-Purpose Activity Center in Bacolod City, a Capitol press release said.

Claimants must personally present their official receipts to the Department of Foreign Affairs personnel, or may execute a Special Power of Attorney and provide identification cards for immediate family members to claim the passport.

A total of 1,244 passports will be released tomorrow.

The Mobile Passporting Service is a joint undertaking of the DFA and the Negros Occidental government through the Public Affairs Division, Office of the Governor, the press release added.*
