Dumaguete PNP to
maximize street visibility
BY RENE GENOVE

The Philippine National Police will maximize police visibility in the streets of Dumaguete City to curb criminality, Chief Inspector Rosalinda Abellon said yesterday.

She said this is in response to PNP Chief Director General Avelino Razon Jr.’s order to all police unit commanders to personally supervise police visibility and patrol operations in the streets, to guard against criminal elements.

Razon also ordered police regional directors to re-implement the security clustering system in areas with bank branches and other commercial establishments.

Twenty police recruits from the police regional office in Cebu City are now deployed in Dumaguete, to augment the PNP in maintaining police visibility on a 24-hour basis.

This is especially implemented during daytime where the population of Dumaguete City doubles because of students, visitors and tourists, Abellon said.

She added that the community also has the responsibility to help stop crime “because everybody is a victim and even the police is not exempted.”

Deputy Chief of Police and Operation Officer Rodolfo Serrano of the Dumaguete PNP said, they have coordinated with local banks for more vigilance against robbers.

He said the PNP has doubled police visibility and patrol operations in the streets nationwide, following the bloody bank robbery of RCBC in Laguna.*RG
