USLS goes for third win
in COC football tourney
BY NIDA BUENAFE

Prevailing over Central Philippine University and University of Mindanao in their previous encounters, University of St. La Salle guns for its third win today when it takes on Foundation University in the 8 a.m. match of the 1st Carlos O. Cojuangco National Collegiate Football Invitational at the Pana-ad football pitch.

With six points stocked under its name for the two wins, drubbing CPU 4-1 Monday and stopping UM 2-1 the next day, host squad leads the four-team cast tournament and has one foot inside the championship door. Should it prevail over the Foundation University, USLS will become the first team to qualify in the finals scheduled on Saturday.

Air 21 stops Magnolia

ANTIPOLO CITY – An eye laceration Gary David suffered early on didn’t stop last season's Most Improved Player from piling up a personal conference high 24-point output.

A slow start neither deterred Arwind Santos from coming through with 13 points at the finish.

David and Santos both made a big impact as Air21 ended Magnolia’s domination of their personal duels this season, pulling off a 96-90 victory in the 2008 Smart Fiesta Conference at the Ynares Center here Wednesday night.
