AT BCPO
Reshuffling takes effect

Police Director Senior Supt. Ronilo Quebrar announced yesterday that four Bacolod City police officers have been given new assignments.

Police Station 4 commander Chief Inspector Santiago Rapiz took over the post of Chief Inspector Noel Manaay at Police Station 1 while Senior Inspector Danilo Francisco of Police Station 7 replaced Rapiz in his former position, a report from BCPO, said.

BCPO City Mobile Group deputy commander, Inspector Reynaldo Auditor, meanwhile, is the new chief of Police Station 7, it added.

Manaay is now assigned at the BCPO headquarters and may be moved to the Police Community Relations office or to the administrative department, Quebrar said.

Quebrar dismissed “speculations” reports that Manaay’s relief was ordered by Western Visayas Philippine National Police regional director, Chief Supt. Isagani Cuevas.

Manaay said this is a “normal” part of their job to expose them to different areas.

Rapiz said he will focus on robberies and the activities of rugby users in his area, while Francisco said that prohibited drugs and illegal gambling will be among his priorities.

Auditor could not be reached for comment up to press time last night.*PP

‘Bribery’ raps filed vs. woman

Bribery charges were filed yesterday against Jean Rose Beltran, after she allegedly tried to give a station commander money in exchange for her release in Bacolod City, the police said.

Police Station 2 commander, Senior Inspector Luisito Acebuche, said they filed the cases for violation of Article 212 of the Revised Penal Code against Beltran, 25, of Talisay City, Negros Occidental, at the City Prosecutor’s Office.

Beltran, admitted that she tried to bribe Acebuche with P4,000 in his office Sunday, after she and four others were arrested by Police Station 2 members for alleged illegal gambling and prohibited drugs activities in Purok Sigay, Brgy. 2, Bacolod, Friday.

She added that she gave Acebuche the cash after a fellow inmate told her to “try and convince him” and because she was worried about her four children.*PP

Girl drowns

A 7-year-old girl drowned at a beach resort in Bacolod City Saturday, the police said yesterday.

Robilyn Arbues had been swimming at Paraiso beach resort in Brgy. Punta Taytay, Bacolod, with her brother, Rodel, when she drowned, at about 10 a.m. Saturday, Police Station 9 commander, Inspector Rie Gumban, said.

Rodel said in a television interview that Robilyn had back to the sea after they had come up to shore and that it was too late when he noticed it.

Case investigator, PO3 Miller Dionio, meanwhile, said the girl may have not been noticed as she was drowning because there was high tide and big waves in the area at that time.*PP
