A former member of the Revolutionary Proletarian Army-Alex Boncayao Brigade, tagged a suspect in the hold-up-slay of a businessman in Talisay City, Negros Occidental, was arrested last night in Sitio Beranyo, Brgy. Lantad, Silay City.

Supt. Joseph Thomas Martir, Talisay police chief, yesterday identified the arrested suspect as Ramon Fuentes, alias Ka Bong, 36.

After five months of hiding, Fuentes was apprehended by virtue of an arrest warrant for the crime of murder issued by Judge Roberto Chiongson, who also denied him bail.

Police investigations showed that on Nov. 29 last year, Fuentes and his companion whose identity is being withheld, shot dead businessman Gilbert Hervias, 45, after divesting him of  P50,000 in payroll money, at Hacienda Lanotan in Brgy. Dos Hermanas, Talisay City.

Merlinda Hervias, 47, wife of the victim, said Fuentes is known to her and her husband, and they even offered him coffee and food whenever he passed by their place.

Hervias, a teacher, said she suffered sleepless nights because of the death of her husband.

Fuentes who is now detained at the lock-up cell of the Talisay City Police Station, is also linked to another murder case in Talisay City, which was reportedly among the reasons why he was discharged from the RPA-ABB.*GPB
