Top Army and police officials will be in Bacolod City May 21 and 22 for the Western Visayas peace and security assembly at Planta Centro Bacolod Hotel in Bacolod City, Gov. Isidro Zayco said yesterday.

The assembly is a multi-sectoral undertaking  aimed at strengthening local mechanisms to address peace and security problems through workshops wherein their consolidated outputs will be submitted to President Gloria Arroyo on the second day, he said.

Zayco said the president will be at the Bacolod Assembly in the afternoon of May 22.

The governor said the president may also go to southern Negros Occidental to inspect the tourism potentials of Sipalay City and the airport being built in Kabankalan City but there is nothing official yet.

Expected on the first day of the workshop are Army chief Lt. Gen. Victor Ibrado, PNP regional director Chief Supt Isagani Cuevas, Secretary Jesus Dureza – presidential adviser on the peace process and National Security Adviser Norberto Gonzales.

Dureza is scheduled to give updates  on the  peace process in Western Visayas and the social integration program, while Gonzales will deliver a challenge of peace to the local government officials.*CPG
