| Vice Governor Emilio Yulo III said a reorganization of the Negros Occidental Sanggunian committee chairmanships may take place soon with the appointment of planter-businessman Enrique “Guding” Lacson to the provincial board.
Rep. Ignacio Arroyo Jr. (Neg Occ., 5th District) nominated Lacson to the post vacated by Yulo who assumed the vice governorship after Gov. Joseph Marañon died in March.
Arroyo is the regional chairman of the Kabalikat ng Malayang Pilipino to which Yulo belongs, and the party has the right to nominate a replacement.
As board member, Yulo chaired the committees on Law and Education. When he assumed the vice governorship, the Law Committee was turned over to Board Member Egardo Acuña, while he retained the Committee on Education, Yulo said.
He said an executive-legislative caucus will have to be held to discuss a reorganization of committees.
Both Yulo and Gov. Isidro Zayco said they welcome the appointment of Lacson to the SP.
Arroyo said he believes Lacson will be able to help deliver basic services to the people of the fifth district. “I am hoping that Lacson and Board Member Melvin Ibañez will be able to deliver better health education and livelihood services to his district,” he said.
Lacson, a graduate of the University of the Philippines at Los Baños, said he will try his best to serve the people of the fifth district.
Even if he has not been a politician, Lacson said he has been involved in activities to help the people of his district.
Lacson is the first cousin of San Carlos Mayor Eugenio Jose Lacson.*CPG
