| 2 Bacoleños detained
for mauling, stabbing
Two neighbors ended up in jail after injuring each other in a scuffle in Bacolod City late Wednesday, police reports said yesterday.
Roy Briones, 40, and Danilo Binson, both of Purok Ylac, Brgy. 1, Bacolod, were detained at Police Station 2 after they stabbed and mauled each other in Purok Ylac at about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, police records showed.
Police investigation showed that Briones stabbed Binson with an eight-inch kitchen knife after the latter hit him with a stone.
Briones, a carpenter, said he was drinking with friends at a neighborhood store when Binson, who was also believed to be intoxicated, approached them and started an argument.
Binson, a trisikad driver, meanwhile, said his behavior was triggered by his conflict with his stepfather.
The two men said they were willing to settle their differences.*PP

Collision causes
traffic jam
A six-vehicle collision that ensued when a dump truck lost its brakes caused an hour-long traffic jam in a busy highway in Bacolod City at about 11 a.m. yesterday.
Shards of glass were scattered near the Doctors’ Hospital at B.S. Aquino Drive, after the orange dump truck driven by Eulogio Lumacay reportedly lost its brakes and bumped the rear of a gray Mitsubishi Adventure driven by Quentin Perez.
Perez’s vehicle, in turn, bumped into a minivan of the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company, an Isuzu pick-up, and a Honda Civic as the traffic lights turned red, witnesses said.
A Pajero that incurred only “small” damages on its rear reportedly left the area after the incident.
At least eight traffic enforcers and police officers from the Traffic Management Unit tried to manage the flow of cars, vans, buses, and trucks after the crash, while the motorists involved inspected the damages to their vehicles.*PP
