| SM Supermalls, in cooperation with the Philippine Star, has launched the “My SM Story” Contest recently in line with SM’s 50th anniversary celebration, a press release from the management said.
Entries of no more than 1,000 words may be sent to the Public Relations of the mall adman office of SM City Bicolor, or e-mail to smbdpr@smsupermalls.com.
The story could be a recollection of how a family spent weekends at the SM malls, gimmick time with friends at the malls, or simply your adventure as a mall goer, the press release said.
There will be 20 winners of P5,000 each and the SM story will be published in the Philippine Star every other Sunday beginning, except for the month of October, wherein the stories will be published weekly. The last My SM Story winner will be published in the Philippine Star’s December 21, 2008 issue, the press release said.
Beauty expert Ricky Reyes has shared his experience as a pioneer tenant at SM’s first mall, SM City North-EDSA, and gave an insight on his relationship with SM founder and chairman, Henry Sr., Sr.
Antolin and Erlinda Paule, both longtime employees, narrated on how they grew up with the company, while Alona Obispo’s recalled her journey from the SM sales floor to the provincial capitol of Quezon, the press release said.
Philippine Star columnist Dero Pedero revealed how the iconic “SM we’ve got it all” jingle was created; Scott Garceu wrote about SM from the expat point of view; and Celine Lopez recounted how her mother became SM’s first model.

Cooking lessons conducted
Authentic French cuisine is being taught by Maggy Echaus at the Bistro, Sea Breeze Hotel, Bacolod City, a press release from organizers said.
Echaus, after through a grant facilitated by the French Embassy, in the Institut Vatel, renowned Hotel and Culinary Institute in Nimes, Provence, Southern France, is sharing her recipes and techniques in the Provencal Cooking Class.
The colors of Provence have inspired artists like Van Gogh, Cezanne, and the Impressionists. In the same way, it has also inspired Maggy Echaus to teach in her own creative way Provencal Cooking, the press release said.
