Bais reveals tourism plan

A plan to develop the white sand beaches in Luka and the sand bar in Manjuyod, Bais City, Negros Oriental, was revealed by Mayor Hector Villanueva Wednesday.

Villanueva said these white sand beaches will soon become touristdestinations, particularly the whitesandbeachnear Luka wharf, which is drawing tourist for its clean and clear water.

The area will be transformed into a world-class tourist site but the design will not destroy the natural beauty of the place. More mangroves will be planted, he added.

Villanueva said heis lookingforwardto makingtheplace analternativeareafordolphinandwhale-watching, adding that the city government islookingforpossiblesourceoffundsto realize the proposal by the second quarterof2009.

Headded that local and foreign tourists do not have to travel far as therearemany beautiful placesintheprovincewhere they can relaxand unwind. The local government unit, though,mustshelloutsomefundsto developthesedestinationswithoutdestroyingtheenvironment, he said.

Meanwhile, Rep. Jocelyn Limkaichong (NegOr, 1st District) alsosaid she plans toenhancethefacilities of theManjuyodwhitesandbar, that hasanestimatedareaofat least 300 hectares.
