Cops apprehend 15-year-old
suspect in death of ruby boy

BY PATRICK PANGILINAN

A minor suspected of fatally stabbing a suspected rugby user in Bacolod City last week was arrested yesterday, the police said.

Alias “Kumpol”, 15, of Hinigaran town, Negros Occidental, was apprehended by Police Station 1 member PO1 Ruel Jalucon at Robinson’s Place in Brgy. Mandalagan, Bacolod, at about 6:30 last night, Police Station 1 commander, Chief Inspector Noel Manaay, said.

Kumpol is the suspect in the killing of Mark Chavez at the Bacolod Central Market at about 8 p.m. on May 7, Manaay added.

Manaay said Kumpol, who begs at the downtown area and at the city’s malls, acts as a leader of rugby boys and shares the money he gets from begging with them.

The suspect may have been angered when Chavez did not listen to him when he tried to pacify an argument between the victim and his companion, Manaay added.

He said that Kumpol may face either homicide or murder charges.*PP
