Airport power lines
repair Sunday

BY CARLA GOMEZ

The reconnection of power from Bacolod to the New Bacolod-Silay Airport in Silay City to address the power voltage problem in the facility will take place Sunday instead of Saturday, Central Negros Electric Cooperative president Roberto Montelibano said yesterday.

The National Transmission Corp. power connection to the airport has been passing through Manapla in the past because of a dispute between Bacolod landowner Eduardo Alunan and the firm, Montelibano said.

Alunan had objected to the repair of the TransCo lines through his property in Bacolod to the airport because of the firm’s failure to settle his claim for payment for its power lines passing through his property for years without compensation.

He said the lines were placed on his property without right of way during the Martial Law years.

Montelibano said that, with the help of lawyer Alfredo Sotto, Alunan was convinced to allow CENECO do the necessary repairs with TransCo on the line to the airport through his Bacolod property.

“Ed was kind enough to agree for the good of the consumers,” Montelibano said.*CPG
