NFA allocates 50,000 bags of NFA rice this month

The National Food Authority in Negros Oriental reiterated yesterday that it has enough supply of rice for this month with 50,000 bags stocked in its warehouse in Pulantubig, Dumaguete City, and another 20,000 in Guihulngan City.

NFA assistant provincial manager Francisco Lorico Jr. confirmed this in the wake of rush-buying at NFA retail outlets in Dumaguete and in other areas of the province.

NFA rice consumers have doubled in number, prompting the agency to seek more importation on a government-to-government basis, Lorico added.

He, however, said he cannot yet confirm a possible adjustment in the ceiling price of NFA rice.

He said they have been informed about the possibility of adjusting the price of NFA rice, but as to when and by how much, he cannot give any confirmation yet.*JG
