| About 300 Philippine food companies will take part in the International Food Exhibition Philippines on May 16 to 18 at the SMX Convention Center.
IFEX Philippines, organized by the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions, an agency of the Philippine Department of Trade and Industry, aims to explore market potential of Philippine-made innovative food products.
Now on its fifth year, IFEX will feature a selection of food products from producers and suppliers here and abroad.
The product categories will include beverages; organic and natural products; fine food and regional gastronomic delights; and biscuits, snacks, and confectioneries. Others will be for fresh and processed fruits and vegetables; meat and poultry; marine products, and other food-related products and services.
IFEX will also feature Central Visayas for its Partner Region Program in a bid to merge food and tourism in marketing.
Every year, IFEX is attended by more than 1,000 trade buyers from Australia, Canada, China, Europe, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan, and the United States, including important buyers like Asian Commodities, TNT Supermarket, Manning Impex, Almaya Group, and Nishida Kogyo Corp.
Novelty food products such as bangus liver pate, puto seko cookies, and flavored vinegar were among the food innovations introduced last year.
This year, the Bangus Association of the Philippines Inc. under the Seafood Pavilion and enterprises supervised by the Advocate of Philippine Fair Trade Inc. will also join the exhibit.*NLG
