Bunye set to join
Monetary Board

Press Secretary Ignacio Bunye said yesterday he will leave the Cabinet next month to join the Monetary Board, the policy-making body of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, the Philippine News Agency said.

Bunye, who is also the presidential spokesman, said his new appointment, which will take effect June 22, is a fulfillment of his wish to go back to banking.

He said his banking career was cut short by the EDSA Revolution which led to his appointment as OIC mayor of Muntinlupa by then President Corazon Aquino.

Before he became mayor, Bunye said he was assistant vice president of the Bank of the Philippine Islands and assistant vice president of the Ayala Investment and Development Corp.

In the interim,  he is also serving as Presidential Adviser on Political Affairs, said Bunye, who will soon announce his successor as press secretary.*
