The national government through its program on micro, small and medium enterprise development has so far, released P7.902 million in loans for active microfinance clients in Western Visayas.
The amount was released to 457,716 active microfinance clients in the region, based on the figures provided by the state-owned People’s Credit and Finance Corp.
New jobs generated under the program totaled 149,645 as of February 2008, translating to loan releases of P3.574 million. 


P1.2M in projects
released for Isabela
Rep. Ignacio Arroyo (Neg. Occ., 5th District) turned over Saturday P1.208 million checks to Isabela to fund various livelihood projects mostly for the town’s upland barangays, a press release from his office said.
The P1 million will be used for abaca production of the 21 upland barangays while the P208, 000, for high-value crop production and vermi culture for the 30 farmers of Hacienda Bacan.
Arroyo handed the checks to the beneficiaries, in the presence of town officials headed by Vice Mayor Omar Gayares, Board Member Melvin Ibanez, and Provincial Veterinarian Renante Decena.


Bunye set to join
Monetary Board
Press Secretary Ignacio Bunye said yesterday he will leave the Cabinet next month to join the Monetary Board, the policy-making body of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, the Philippine News Agency said.
Bunye, who is also the presidential spokesman, said his new appointment, which will take effect June 22, is a fulfillment of his wish to go back to banking.
He said his banking career was cut short by the EDSA Revolution which led to his appointment as OIC mayor of Muntinlupa by then President Corazon Aquino.
