Rape suspect,
uncle killed

BY GILBERT BAYORAN

A suspect in a rape case and his uncle were stabbed and hacked dead Wednesday in Brgy. Tabu, Ilog, Negros Occidental, in an incident police attributed to grudges.

The Ilog police identified the victims as Arnold Guinson, 35, and his nephew, Roldan Guinson, 22, who had been charged in court for rape.

Senior Inspector Gabriel Gutierrez, Ilog police chief, yesterday said the suspects identified as Jonfel Tadoy, 24, and Dodoy Patena, 35, surrendered to the Kabankalan City Police Station, two days later.

Initial police investigations showed that the victims were on their way home after a drinking session in Sitio Magabugsaw, Brgy. Tabu, Ilog, when they were waylaid by the suspects who carried bladed weapons.

Both sustained multiple stab and hack wounds, which caused their deaths.

SPO1 Vicente Fernando said Roldan was tagged as a suspect in the rape of a relative of Tadoy and Patena, who are now locked up in jail.

Meanwhile, the killing of Marvin Nueva, a polio victim, in Brgy. Palaka Norte, Pulupandan, on May 7, was considered solved by the police after the arrest of the 16-year-old suspect Thursday.

Inspector Joshua Villasis, Pulupandan police chief, said the minor whose identity they have withheld, was arrested in the town.

A bladed weapon and short pants with bloodstains were recovered from the minor, who was turned over the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office in Pulupandan.

The body of Nueva, with his neck slashed, was recovered near an old cockpit in Pulupandan on Wednesday.

Police investigations also showed that the suspect had allegedly been mauled previously by unidentified persons, allegedly on orders of the victim.*GPB
