Coca-Cola Tigers’ import George “Gee” Gervin Jr. showed last night that basketball greatness ran in his vein as he powered his team’s victory and against Magnolia Beverage, 106-92, in Smart-PBA Fiesta Conference at the Araneta Coliseum.

With the win, the Tigers share the lead in the standings with Red Bull Barako with 6 wins and 2 losses while Magnolia found itself in sixth spot with 4-4 record.

Gervin, the son of former NBA great George “The Iceman” Gervin, converted 13-of-26, including 6 treys and finished the game with 35 points as Magnolia’s defense concentrated on Coca-Cola’s other reinforcement Jason Dixon.

Asi Taulava delivered 21 points for the Tigers while rookie Ronjay Buenafe added 13 markers.

Dixon, who averaged 25.1 points in his first seven games, was held to seven points, the lowest output by an import this conference.

Despite his dismal performance in the scoring department, Dixonwas a force at the middle of Coke’s interior defense as he grabbed a personal conference-best of 17 rebounds.

The 35-point output of Gervin eclipsed his previous high of 26 during his debut when Coke lost to Air21, 95-102, last April 13.

The Tigers used a 15-4 run to start the fourth period that turned a close 75-71 advantage after three quarters, to 90-75 with 5:52 left in the game.*
