win in Fil-Sino cagefest

The Basecom squad registered its second win via an 87-68 decision against JSY Transport in the recent action of the Fil-Sino All Asian Countertrade Inc. Intercolor Tournament at Tay Tung Po Hang gym.

Arvin Chua topscored for Basecom with 19 points while Arvin Gustilo added 13, Toffel Tan and Arnold Betita 12 points a piece and Alex Chua contributed 9.

Basecom never gave JSY a chance at the lead, taking the first quarter at 25-21 and dominating the second quarter with Tan hitting 10 points and Gustilo delivering 7 markers to extend Basecom advantage at halftime, 51-32.

JSY, which absorbed its third loss after four games, was led by Kenderson Hao with 17 points while Marvin Ortiz and Jan Jan Lopue scored 12 points each and Sydney Chua 10.

In the second game, Sweet Crystal Sugar pulled the rug under Organic Solutions Inc. with a 101-94 win underscored by a fourth quarter shootout between the two teams.

With five Sweet Crystal Players scoring in double-digits, Organic Solutions trio Antonio Rogacion, Bobil Alagaban, and Michael Ang likewise flexed their muscles to keep in pace in the final quarter of the play.

Oliver Manaloto scored 14 of his 20 points in the fourth quarter while topscorer RB Chua converted 8 to steer Sweet Crystal to victory. RB Chua finished the game with 21 points while Ricky Chua registered 16, Jim Uy 15, and Frederick Ong contributed 12.

Alagaban led Organic Solutions with 23 points while Rogacion totaled 22 and Ang 20, including 3 three-point shots in the final quarter.

With the win, Sweet Crystal ties with Organic Solutions and Basecom in the team standings with 2 wins and 2 losses.*NAB
