| Cops mull artist’s sketch
to identify rob suspects
The police yesterday said it will ask for artist sketches of the three robbers who divested a money changer employee of P350,000 in cash Wednesday.
Police Station 2 commander, Senior Inspector Luisito Acebuche, said that they will request the National Bureau of Investigation to make the sketches of the faces of thieves as soon as Ranuel Bernabe, 32, describes them.
Bernabe, an employee of Linda M. Money Changer at Lopue’s East, Brgy. Villamonte, Bacolod, was held up at gunpoint by three unidentified men on two motorcycles while he was driving along 5th-Aguinaldo streets, Bacolod, at about 7 p.m. Wednesday, police records showed.
Bacolod City Police Office director, Senior Supt. Ronilo Quebrar, said the robbers may have spied on Bernabe’s routines before the incident.*PP

Carnapping raps
filed versus 3
Carnapping charges were filed against suspects Cesar Rala, Helen Grace Morales, and Monita Marie Hilado in Bacolod City yesterday, the police said.
Charged for violation of Republic Act 6539 or the Anti-Carnapping Act of 1972 were Rala, 56, Morales, 35, and Hilado, 53, at the City Prosecutor’s Office yesterday, Police Station 8 commander, Senior Inspector Placido Gentoleo, said.
He said the three were nabbed by Police Station 8 and Bacolod City Police Office Intelligence and Investigation Division members while allegedly trying to flee with the vehicle of Jessie Jimenez near the Luxur’s Place at Magsaysay Avenue, Bacolod, at about 3:30 p.m. Thursday.
The suspects allegedly fled while Jimenez, owner of Meca J rent-a-car establishment at the Goldenfields Commercial Complex in Bacolod, was negotiating with them, Gentoleo added.
Mauro Zorro, Wilfredo Apelyido, and Mariano Ontalan, who also operate vehicle rental businesses in Bacolod, also identified Rala, Morales, and Hilado, as the ones who victimized them a few months ago, Gentoleo said.
The three, who were still detained at Police Station 8 as of last night, denied the allegations against them, Gentoleo said.*PP

‘PNP stations need books’
Bacolod City Police Office director, Senior Supt. Ronilo Quebrar, yesterday said the city’s cops need books to help them in their tasks.
Quebrar said the books will be useful as the BCPO plans to set up a long-planned mini-library for each of the 10 police stations in Bacolod.
Quebrar said they have not yet made any requests for donations to the government or to private citizens.
Among the books that would be helpful to the most officers in their work are dictionaries, encyclopedias, and newspapers and magazines to keep them updated on current events, he said.
They also plan to include official memoranda and journals of the Philippine National Police in the libraries so officers will have easier access to directives.
Recently, PNP director general, Avelino Razon Jr. issued a directive warning officers against watching television shows, especially telenovelas, while they are on duty so they could effectively serve the public.*PP
