CaltexTechron and Dr. Pinoy posted early wins in the 1st United Negros Athletic Club Founders Basketball Tournament, beating their rivals Emban Enterprises and Rostam/National during the May 4 inaugural games at the Negros Occidental Multi-Purpose Activity Center.

Caltex downed Emban Entreprises, 78-65, while Dr. Pinoy edged out Rostam/National, 51-50.

Aleph Esparagoza topscored Caltex with 22 points, followed by Edwin Borromeo with 17, while Nonoy Fernandez contributed 14 and Dods Siopan 10 points for the win. Emban’s losing effort drew a combined 26 points from Albert Smalley and Noel Porras.

Meanwhile, James Delos Reyes converted a buzzer beater lay up from a pass of Nonong Java to lead Dr. Pinoy in a half-point victory against Rostam/National.

Nars Galang, Roy Dionela and Delos Reyes totaled 30 points for the winning squad while Joemarie Lipa and Zaldy Navarra chipped in 19 points for Rostam.
