| Louise Artadi of the University of St. La Salle was declared champion in the first essay writing contest launched during the 3rd Negros Island Organic Farmers Festival in Bacolod City recently, a press release from the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist said.
Second and third place winners, respectively, were Edcel Paul Tejare of Bacolod City National High School and Venice Marie Hulleza of Sagay National High School.
Artadi won P10,000 and Tejare and Hulleza received P7,000 and P5,000. The 10 other participants were given consolation prizes, the press release said.
Judges of the contest held at the Governor’s Hall of the Provincial Capitol in Bacolod were Mathine Lopez, Nanette Guadalquiver and Evangeline Alo.
Meanwhile, first to third place winners of the Poster Making contest held during the event opening were Hanna Joy Sayan of Domingo Lacson National High School, Alain Aujero - Sagay National High School, and Alyssa Bodios - La Castellana National High School, who received P10,000, 7,000, and 5,000, respectively, the press release added.*

Gabby Concepcion
set to visit Bacolod
Matinee idol of the 80’s Gabby Concepcion will render three of his favorite songs and meet his fans at SM City in Bacolod at 4 p.m. on May 17, a press release from organizers said.
After a 13-year hiatus where he lived a private life in the United States, Concepcion came back to the Philippines and joined the ABS-CBN “Kapamilya” roster of talents, and signed up a three-year contract with Star Cinema which led to a “Maalaala Mo Kaya” episode as one of his comeback projects.
He said first and foremost among his reasons for coming back was his father's dwindling health, the press release said.
In his mall shows nationwide, the veteran and multi-awarded actor thanked his fans and those he was with while in the US, the press release added.*
