2 snatchers identified

Three motorcycle-riding men snatched the cellular phone of a backrider of another motorist, Sunday, at EJ Blanco Drive, Barangay Piapi, Dumaguete City, the police said yesterday.

The victim was identified as Wynelyn Dayday, 17, of Barangay Cantil-e, in Dumaguete.

Police investigation showed that Dayday was riding a motorcycle driven by her brother Reynante, when suddenly, upon reaching Barangay Piapi, another motorcycle overtook them. Its riders grabbed the cellular phone of Wynelyn and sped away going west, investigation showed.

The police was informed at  midnight, and Insp. Rogelio Pineda, chief of the intelligence, theft and robbery section, ordered a hot pursuit operation that led to the identification of the two suspects as Jan Jan Reposo and Archie Abiera, both residing in Tubtubon, Sibulan, Negros Oriental, the police said.

As of press time yesterday, the police are still looking for the suspect in Sibulan.

Meanwhile, a pedicab driver lost his “mayor’s permit” to operate his tricycle, near midnight Sunday, at the Dumaguete City Public Market.

Erben Acab, 53, of Lower Batinguel, Dumaguete, reported to the police the loss of his mayor’s permit, while he was in a comfort room at the City Public Market. He said someone may have stolen it, the police said.*RG
