Arrest order out
for RPA officer

An arrest warrant has been ordered against a leader of the Revolutionary Proletarian Army-Alex Boncayao Brigade for murder, in connection with the fatal shooting of a civilian and the injury of another in Brgy. Bagonbon, San Carlos City, early this year, police records show.

Judge Catherine Go issued the warrant for Charlie Boli-Boli, an assistant team leader of the RPA-ABB operating in San Carlos City and Toboso upland areas.

Supt. Harold Tuzon, San Carlos police chief, yesterday said Boli-Boli allegedly shot Romeo Bayodan, 52, in the left arm on Jan. 11. Dominador Gabia who was hit in the crossfire died on the spot, police investigations showed.

The incident took place at the videokee house of Gabia in Brgy. Bagonbon, San Carlos City, where the suspect was drinking with companions.

Four empty shells of a .45 caliber pistol were recovered by the police from the scene of incident.

Police investigations also showed that Bayodan had challenged Boli-Boli to a fist-fight late last year.

Go has denied bail for Boli-Boli, who is still at-large.

Tuzon said he will coordinate with leaders of the RPA-ABB and will ask them to surrender Boli-Boli. “If they will not do it, we will initiate efforts to serve the arrest warrant to the suspect,” he added.

The RPA-ABB had entered into peace talks with the government in year 2000.*GPB

9 nabbed for
illegal gambling

Nine persons, including a former barangay kagawad, were nabbed by law enforcers for allegedly engaging in an illegal card game in Bacolod City Monday night, the police said yesterday.

Vicente Villanueva, 35, of Purok Bangrus, Brgy. 1, Rey Cruz, 45, of Eufemia Compound, Brgy. Taculing, Maracio Malayan , 48, of Purok Tahong, Brgy. 2, all in Bacolod, were arrested by Police Station 2 and City Mobile Group members led by Senior Inspector Luisito Acebuche and SPO1 Alan de Guzman, police records showed.

Also apprehended were, Marino Yu, 30, of Purok Sigay, Brgy. 2, Joseph Salvacion, 26, of Purok Mainawa-on, Brgy. 19, Joy Gargallano, 35, of Purok Sambag, Brgy. Mandalagan, Benjie Delarosa, 23, of Purok Bayanihan, Imie Viñegas, 24, of Purok Lawayan, both in Brgy. Banagao, and Alan Cordova, 52, of Purok Sigay, Brgy. 2, all in Bacolod, police reports said.

The nine were nabbed for allegedly playing the card game “tong-its” in Cordova’s house at about 11:30 p.m. Monday, police records showed.

Confiscated from them were P340 in bet money, 13 sets of cards, three cellphones, and an ATM card, police reports said.

“Tong-its” is among the games prohibited under Presidential Decree No. 1602.

Cordova, a former kagawad in Brgy. Banago, said they were only celebrating his mother’s death anniversary when they were arrested.

The other eight, on the other hand, said that some of them were just watching the games.

Cordova lamented that while they have indeed violated the law, the officers could have given them consideration by warning them first.

The policemen should run after “bigger” crimes such as illegal drugs trade in Brgy. 2 instead of responding to “petty” things like card games, he added.*PP
