PCOM induction, lecture set

The Philippine College of Occupational Medicine, Negros Occidental Chapter, will hold its 6th Dr. Telesforo J. de los Reyes, Jr. Memorial Lecture and Induction of officers at the Planta Centro Bacolod Hotel and Residences 6:30 p.m. tomorrow.

In memory of its founding president, the late Dr. Teelsforo J. de los Reeys, Jr., the memorial lecturer, Dr. Patricio Palmes, will talk about the “New Insights into the Difference Effects of Statin in Cardiovascular Risk Reduction”, a press release from Dr. Erlinda de los Reyes, said yesterday.

It will be followed by the induction of officers for 2008-2009 by PCOM national president, Dr. Rustico Jimenez, who is also the president of the Private Hospitals Association of the Philippines.

Dr. Florentino Alerta III, PCOM national board director, Visayas will introduce the inducting officers.

Officers for 2008-2009 to be inducted are Dr. Felix Valenzuela – president, Dr. Rudy Gonzales – vice president north, Dr. Enrique Serna – vice president south, Dr. Carlitos Orola – secretary, Dr. Carmelita Tibon – treasurer, and Dr. Roberto Guanzon – public information officer.

Members of the board of directors are doctors Rollin Fernandez, Carlos Infante, Rafael Jocson, Carlitos Magno, Lydia Mogul, Eduardo Ordonez, Jose Gerardo Rivera, Cecilia Salvador, and Fe Valenzuela.*

Mabinuligon wins dance fest

Tribu Mabinuligon, composed of Purok Mabinuligon and Maghimulat, won the first place in the Okoy-Okoy Dance Festival held for the 45th Charter Day of Barangay Pahanocoy, Bacolod City, on May 1, a press release from the purok said yesterday.

The Festival drew eight participants.

Tribu Mabinuligon also got two minor awards – Best in Costume and Best in Street Dancing.

The choreographers of Tribu Mabinuligon were Joemarie “Biboy” Anacan and Mark “Maymay” Alcala of Brgy. Handumanan. It was the first time Purok Mabinuligon has joined in this festival.

The organizers of Tribu Mabinuligon are the officials of Purok Mabinuligon headed by purok president Glenn Burgos.*

Art workshops set

Gallery Orange is inviting all art enthusiasts to join a series of creative art workshops on May 7 to 30 at its premises at the  Lopue’s Annex Building at Mandalagan, Bacolod City, a gallery press release said.

Courses offered are Basic Drawing (Sketching), Cartooning (Comic Strip), Sculpture (Clay Modeling/ Terracotta), Pastel and Water Color and Painting (oil/ Acrylic).
