Drugs seized in Cadiz
BY GILBERT BAYORAN

The police yesterday confiscated more than half-a-kilo of suspected dried marijuana leaves from a peddler arrested in Cadiz City, Negros Occidental.

Armed with a search warrant issued by Judge Rolando Ramirez, a police team led by Chief Inspector Jefferson Descallar, who were deputized as agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, swooped down on the house of Hector Reyes Sr. in Purok Baybay, Brgy. Daga, Cadiz City.

Descallar said Reyes was repacking the dried marijuana leaves when they raided his house, an hour before they also conducted a test buy operation on him with a poseur buyer, who was able to buy P200 worth of prohibited drugs.

The raid on the house of Reyes, who is listed in the police order of battle of drug personalities in Cadiz City, yielded about half-a-kilo of dried marijuana leaves, 333 sachets of marijuana leaves, a plate full of marijuana, two Nokia cell phones, P933 in cash believed to be proceeds from the sale of prohibited drugs, and P200 in marked money.

Descallar said Reyes is now locked up in jail, charges will be filed against him for violation of RA 9165 before the City Prosecutor’s Office of Cadiz City.*GPB
