Soldier jailed for 13 hours

An Army soldier arrested for illegal discharge of firearms, spent about 13 hours in jail at the Cadiz City Police Station, before his release at noon yesterday when the complainants signified that they will not pursue the charges against him in court, police said..

Cpl. Cromwell Centina, who is assigned at the 303rd Infantry Brigade in Brgy, Minoyan, Murcia, was arrested by the police in Hacienda Filomena, Brgy. Burgos, Cadiz City, allegedly for indiscriminate firing.

Centina was also disarmed of his .45 caliber pistol with one bullet by Cadiz policemen, while a spent shell was recovered from the scene of incident.

Chief Inspector Jefferson Descallar, Cadiz police chief, said complaints of illegal discharge of firearms and mauling were hurled against Centina.

Descallar added that the release of Centina was with conformity of the complainants who are the relatives of his wife.*GPB
