‘Dumaguete dumpsite to
face space problem’

BY JUANCHO GALLARDE

The Dumaguete City Ecological Park dumpsite, a Galing Pook national awardee, turned 11 years old on May 1, but is facing a problem of space with 30 to 40 tons of garbage brought daily to the area.

Environment and Natural Resources Officer Rolly Clamonte’s assessment disclosed that the controlled dumpsite may not be able to last for more than two years.

It is for this reason that upon instructions of Mayor Agustin Perdices, that in the last five to 10 years composted garbage is being removed from the dumpsite and used as fill-back materials in areas where it is needed, one of which is the ravine near the housing project in Barangay Cadawinonan.
