Repair of bulldozer
to cost city P.5 M

BY JUANCHO GALLARDE

Almost half a million pesos is needed to repair the damaged bulldozer of Dumaguete City that is being utilized at the dumpsite in Brgy. Candau-ay.

The Shantui bulldozer, purchased at P8.4 million nine years ago, has a damaged track link and has been rendered unusable for more than a week, resulting in the disruption of major road projects, including the dumpsite operation.

Boy Flores of the City Engineer’s Office said the replacement part is already available after its acquisition through normal government procurement procedure.

Meanwhile, another heavy equipment also needs major repair. The China-made payloader needs part replacement while the vibratory road roller’s hydraulic pump is also not usable.

With all these, Flores said they prefer a Japan-made heavy equipment in line with the city’s desire to acquire another payloader worth P2.5 million.

He said it is up for the city bids and awards committee to appreciate the recommendation of the technical committee, on what brand to purchase.*JG
