Long distance runners
join Mambukal relay

Long distance runners from the cities of Cadiz, Bacolod, Silay, La Carlota, Victorias and Escalante will cover the 24.3-kilometer distance from Mambukal Resort in Murcia to Panaad Stadium today for this year’s edition of the Mambukal Team Relay, a centerpiece event of the 2008 Panaad sa Negros Sports Festival.
The first runner of every competing team will take off from Mambukal’s Tourist Lodge down to Purok 1, Brgy. Minoyan for the first 2.9-km of the relay then pass the baton to the second runner who will cover 3.7-km from Purok 1 to Hda. Lizares-Housing, Brgy. San Miguel.
| Bacolod tops boys, Bacolod City elementary boys’ team A board pushers edged off their rivals from La Carlota in the tie-break to win the title while their teammates in the girls’ category emerged on top of the heap to complete the City of Smiles’ sweep of the elementary chess team championship in the Panaad sa Negros Sports Festival. With a similar 5.5 match points, the boys from Bacolod needed a tie break against La Carlota and scored 11 accumulated score to bag the crown. The girls however, were immediately declared champion after posting 4 points against closest rivals from Pontevedra who settled for silver. |
