| Philippine National Red Cross chairman Sen. Richard Gordon led SMART and PNRC officials in a ceremony to dramatize a call for subscribers to start donating to Red Cross using their airtime load, a press release from SMART said.
SMART has partnered with PNRC to enable its subscribers to convert their airtime load into a donation via SMS.
For as low as 25 centavos per day, or a subscription of P5 for every 20 days, a subscriber may support PNRC, the press release said.
They can also choose to donate on a one-time basis, amounts ranging from P10 to P100.
Their donation will come from their airtime load, providing them a more personal, hassle-free way to support the institution of their choice. To support the Red Cross, SMART subscribers need to send RED <AMT> to GIVE143 (4483143), the press release added.*

City to hold jobs fair today
The Bacolod City Mayor’s Office, through the Public Employment Services Office, and SM City Bacolod will hold a Labor Day jobs fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today, at the mall, a press release from organizers said.
Big companies will participate in the activity, as well as various mall affiliates and tenants.
Meanwhile, the Institute of ManPower and Computer Technology will also conduct an orientation on how to take the Prospeak or Versant Call Center Grammar and Writing Test and IT Test for technical support, the press release said.

USLS to host press con ’08
The Spectrum, the official student publication of the University of St. La Salle in Bacolod City will host the 4th National Lasallian Schools Press Conference tomorrow until May 5, at the Santuario De La Salle at USLS, a press release from organizers said.
Seven Lasallian district schools will attend the national event, on the theme “One La Salle, One Brand of Campus Journalism”, and these are the De La Salle University – Manila, De La Salle – College of St. Benilde, De La Salle – Araneta University, De La Salle – Lipa, De La Salle University – Dasmariñas, La Salle University – Ozamis and the University of St. La Salle-Bacolod, the press release said.
Editor-in-chief Jepoi Sistoso said the LSPCon 2008 is a program initiated by the National Alliance of Campus Journalists and Advisers, which aims to promote excellence, uphold campus journalism, and cultivate camaraderie among campus journalists, artists and advisers of college publications under the De La Salle Philippines.
The Spectrum, which is now on its 51st year, will invite some of the country’s best writers and journalists as their workshop speakers.
