Globe, rural bankers
organize mng’t confab

Globe Telecom and the Confederation of Central Luzon Rural Banks Inc. organized this year’s Rural Bankers’ Management Conference that tackle the benefits of “banking on technology,” a press release from the company said.

The conference was attended by at least 150 rural banking delegates, including  chairmen, chief executive officers, directors, and senior officers of rural banks.

Globe Business Head Gil Genio, who delivered the  keynote address, is a strong advocate of the vision of CCLRB to help small banking industry players utilize technology to gain competitive advantage, the press release said.

Genio said that with today’s digital revolution, Filipinos everywhere are increasingly becoming technology and Internet-savvy and that technology has changed customers’ expectations.

Telecommunications technology is beneficial for financial institutions and the right technological investment could spell the success for rural banks, he added.

Genio cited Globe’s flagship mobile commerce service, GCASH as a tool to tap the Overseas Filipino Workers market and the Micro Asenso! Text Facility which enables Filipino businesses to easily and instantly reach more than 3,000 micro financing institutions across the country, the press release added.*
