Senator Miguel Zubiri, the author of the Bio-Fuels Act of 2007, will be the guest of honor and speaker during the Sugar Industry Foundation Inc. Stakeholders’ Conference and 37th General Assembly at the Planta Hotel, Bacolod City today, a press release from SIFI said.

SIFI will present its reports and program accomplishments to its stakeholders and recognize its program partners, outstanding employees and previous officers and members of its Board of Trustees.

Also expected to attend are Sugar Regulatory Administration chief Rafael Coscolluela, Undersecretary of Labor Lourdes Trasmonte, and Director Alex Maraan of the Bureau of Rural Workers, the press release said.

Trasmonte is also the chair designate of the Sugar Tripartite Council, the policy-making body that oversees the implementation of the social amelioration program for sugar workers as mandated by Republic 6982 or the Sugar Amelioration Act of 1991.

The assembly will also elect a new set of Board of Trustees of SIFI  which will serve for two years starting this year, the press release added.*
